HOUSTON, Jan. 21 -- Dragon Oil PLC, Dubai, plans to commission a wellhead and production platform for Lam oil and gas field off Turkmenistan in 2006.

Construction is under way on the Lam A platform and an associated onshore facility able to process 50,000 b/d of oil and associated gas and water.

Production from Lam field, on the Cheleken Block south of Turkmenbashi, exceeds 20,000 b/d of oil and 48 MMscfd of gas (see map, OGJ, Oct. 21, 2002, p. 50).

Dragon worked over seven wells last year in a program that raised production by nearly 7,000 b/d.

The company recently let 2-year contract to National Drilling Co. of Iran for the Iran Khazar jack up. It will move in March to drill near the Lam 10 platform.
