Baker Hughes: US drilling rig count loses 3 offshore

The US drilling rig count decreased by 3 units, all offshore, to reach 488 rigs working for the week ended July 30, according to Baker Hughes data. The count is up 237 units from the 251 rigs working this time a year ago.

The number of rigs drilling on land was flat week-over-week with a total of 474. The number of rigs drilling offshore was down 3 units to 14.

US oil-directed rigs were down 2 rigs from last week at 385 units. Rigs targeting gas were down 1 to 103.

Canada’s rig count was up 4 units to 153 rigs drilling for the week. The count is 108 more than the 45 units drilling this week a year ago. At 93 units, Canada’s oil-directed rig count is unchanged from last week. The gas-directed rig count in Canada is up 4 to 59.
