The US drilling rig count decreased by 3 units to reach 488 rigs working for the week ended July 30, according to Baker Hughes data. The count is up 237 units from the 251 rigs working this time a year ago.
The number of rigs drilling on land was flat week-over-week with a total of 474. The number of rigs drilling offshore was down 3 units to 14.
US oil-directed rigs were down 2 rigs from last week at 385 units. Rigs targeting gas were down 1 to 103.
Canada’s rig count was up 4 units to 153 rigs drilling for the week. The count is 108 more than the 45 units drilling this week a year ago. At 93 units, Canada’s oil-directed rig count is unchanged from last week. The gas-directed rig count in Canada is up 4 to 59.
