Equinor granted permit to drill wells southwest of Fram field

Equinor Energy AS has been granted drilling permits by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill wells near Fram field in the North Sea.

Wells 31/1-2 S and 31/1-2 A—the first two exploration wells to be drilled in license 923—will be drilled about 18 km southwest of Fram field from Seadrill’s West Hercules drilling facility after concluding the drilling of well 7018/5-1 for Equinor in production license 960. The acreage in the license consists of parts of Blocks 31/1 and 31/2.

Equinor is operator with an 40% interest. Partners are Petoro AS (20%), Wellesley Petroleum AS (20%), and DNO Norge AS (20%).

The operator also was granted a permit for wells 31/2-22 S and 31/2-22 A—the first two exploration wells to be drilled in production license 090 I. The acreage in the license consists of parts of Block 31/2. The wells will be drilled about 8 km southwest of Fram field from the West Hercules rig after concluding the drilling of well 31/1-2 S and appraisal well 31/1-2 A.

Equinor is operator with 45% interest. Partners are Vår Energi AS (25%), Idemitsu Petroleum AS (15%), and Neptune Energy Norge AS (15%).
