Hurricane Energy PLC successfully commissioned electric submersible pumps (ESPs) on both Lancaster Early Production System (EPS) producing wells (OGJ Online, May 22, 2020). Well 205/21a-6 has returned to natural flow while the 205/21a-7z well will continue being produced using an ESP.
A period of ESP testing has seen Lancaster EPS production increase to 17,000 bo/d from 15,000 bo/d as oil and water production from 205/21a-7z has stabilized. Currently, 205/21a-6 produces about 12,000 bo/d with 12% water cut and 205/21a-7z produces about 5,000 bo/d with 53% watercut.
With 205/21a-7z currently flowing using the ESP there has been no evidence of the performance issues which led to its temporary shut in May.
As part of the ongoing geological and technical review, the company continues to evaluate options to enhance production from its West of Shetland asset base. Production guidance will remain suspended until the technical review is complete or until production uncertainties have reduced.
