BHP Group Ltd. has let a contract to McDermott International Inc. to provide subsea umbilicals, risers, and flowlines (SURF), transportation and installation (T&I), pre-commissioning of one jacket, and topsides for the Ruby project, offshore Trinidad and Tobago.

Ruby field lies in the Block 3(a) development area of Trinidad & Tobago, some 45 km off the northeastern coast of Trinidad. BHP made final investment decision (FID) on the $500-million project in August 2019 (OGJ Online, Aug. 8, 2019). Work includes a shallow-water tie-back of five production wells to existing processing facilities in Greater Angostura field on Block 2C about 8 km east.

Engineering and project management will be performed in Houston with engineering support from McDermott's Mexico City office. McDermott's DLV 2000 is scheduled to transport and install the flowlines and platform.

The project will begin immediately with completion projected in August. The contract award, which McDermott values at $50-250 million, will be reflected in the company’s fourth quarter 2019 backlog.
