Neptune Energy to upgrade Bramberge facilities
Neptune Energy plans to invest $19 million to upgrade the surface facilities at one of its largest operated developments in Western Germany. Upgrades at the main operating site at Bramberge oil field in the municipality of Geeste are expected to enhance efficiency and productivity, the company said Jan. 7.
Refurbishment of the existing processing plant is expected to be carried out across two phases and will involve dismantling storage tanks for reservoir water and crude oil, installation of new foundations, and construction of new storage tanks. Further installation work of supporting infrastructure will then be carried out.
Installation of two new separators is expected to improve processing efficiency, while the modernized facilities and technologies will be more compact, resulting in a reduction of the overall footprint of the operating plant, the company said. Work is scheduled to be complete by early 2023.
The investment follows the company’s acquisition of shares in oil and gas fields in western Lower Saxony from Wintershall Dea, including in the Bramberge field in 2019 (OGJ Online, July 30, 2019).
Since the start of production in 1957, more than 140 million bbl have been produced at Bramberge. In 2019, Neptune produced almost 460,000 bbl from the field. Neptune is operator with 69.8%. BEB holds 30.2%.
