Pharis Energy has let a contract to RDS, a KCA Deutag company, to carry out a conceptual study in the UK North Sea.

Pharis Energy aims to initiate the first major offshore steam flood project in the world and is currently exploring ways to maximize oil recovery in Pilot field in the UK North Sea. The company participated in the 28th Seaward Licensing Round and in November 2014 was awarded Block 21/27a under promote license P2244. In October 2018 the Oil and Gas Authority approved Pharis Energy as operator of the license, which is now in its second term. PL P2244 contains the Pilot and Harbour heavy oil discoveries that together have about 240 million bbl of oil in place, according to Pharis Energy’s web site.

RDS’s work on the project will include jack up screening and selection and the wellhead platform design. Work will be executed out of RDS’s London and Aberdeen offices.
