Valeura Energy has spudded a second well to appraise its 2017 Yamalik-1 discovery in the Thrace basin of northwestern Turkey. The Devepinar-1 well is 20 km west of the first appraisal well, Inanli-1, which awaits testing. The Inanli-1 is 6 km northeast of Yamalik-1. Valeura said the new well tests the lateral extent of the basin-centered gas accumulation play to the western side of the basin.

Valeura Energy Inc., Calgary, has spudded a second well to appraise its 2017 Yamalik-1 discovery in the Thrace basin of northwestern Turkey.

The Devepinar-1 well is 20 km west of the first appraisal well, Inanli-1, which awaits testing (OGJ Online, Jan. 28, 2019). The Inanli-1 is 6 km northeast of Yamalik-1.

Valeura said the new well tests the lateral extent of the basin-centered gas accumulation play to the western side of the basin.

“Given the success of Inanli-1 in demonstrating the presence of overpressured gas down to approximately 4,900 m, Devepinar-1 is currently planned to focus on the most promising intervals, which are shallower,” the company said in a press release.

The planned depth is 4,300 m.

At Inanli-1, Valeura plans multistage reservoir stimulation and flow testing targeting at least four intervals of interest in a 1,615-m gross objective section.

Valeura is operator with a 31.5% working interest in deep rights of the West Thrace exploration license. Other interests are Equinor Turkey BV, 50%, and Pinnacle Turkey International, 18.5%.
