Gassco AS is in the process of restarting its Kollsnes gas processing plant and associated Vestprosess condensate pipeline in western Norway after a collision between two ships off the Sture terminal near Bergen early Nov. 8 led to closure of the installations (OGJ Online, Nov. 8, 2018).

The Kollsnes gas plant is west of Bergen and has the capacity to treat as much as 143 million cu m/day of gas that arrives from North Sea fields Troll, Kvitebjorn, and Visund. Vestprosess pipeline extends from Kollsnes to Equinor subsidiary Equinor Refining Norway AS’s 187,000-b/d refinery in Mongstad. Both the plant and pipeline are in the process of ramping up after a shutdown caused by a collision between the frigate Helge Ingstad and the tanker TS Sola earlier in the day, Gassco said.

While reduced Norwegian gas deliveries to continental Europe because of the incident will soon be normalized, it will take some time until full capacities of the installations are restored, said Gassco, which operates both the gas plant and pipeline.

A specific timeframe for when the installations would resume full operations was not disclosed.
