Valeura Energy Inc., Calgary, soon will spud Inanli-1, the first of three appraisal wells planned for its Yamalik-1 discovery in Northwest Turkey, newly recompleted for the start of a long-term production test (OGJ Online, Feb. 9, 2018).

Inanli-1 is 6 km northeast of Yamalik-1, which began producing gas and condensate on Sept. 12. At the end of 24 hr of continuous production, the comingled flow rate was 2.53 MMcfd through a 20/64-in. choke with wellhead pressure of 2,535 psi.

Flow stabilized after 4 days at 1.4 MMcfd of gas as the well continued to return frac water. Average condensate flow over the first 4 days was 49 bbl/MMcf.

Yamalik-1, drilled to 4,196 m, discovered a 1,300-m gas and condensate column in overpressured Tertiary Teslimkoy and Kesan reservoirs below 2,900 m.

Valeura and Equinor are 50-50 partners in the license in formations below 2,500 m.

With the long-term test of Yamalik-1 and its appraisals, Valeura is assessing basin-centered natural gas in the Thrace basin.
