Savannah Petroleum PLC reports another indicated oil discovery in the R3 part of the R3/R4 Production Sharing Contract Area in the Agadem Rift basin of southeastern Niger.

Wireline logs, fluid samples, and pressure data indicate the Amdigh-1 exploration well cut 22 m of net oil-bearing sandstone in the E1 and E2 units of the primary Eocene Sokor Alternances target.

The well, which reached 2,469 m TMD, is being suspended for future reentry. Savannah plans a production test in a batch program when results are available from the next exploratory well in the R3 area, Kunama-1.

The company said it plans to complete the Amdigh-1 well for production.

Savannah logged 10 m of net oil-bearing Sokor Alternances sandstone in an earlier exploratory well due production-testing, Bushiya-1 (OGJ Online, May 3, 2018).

Like the first two wells, the Kunama-1 will target Sokor Alternances strata with Eocene Upper Sokor as a secondary target. The location is 12 km from Amdigh-1.
