Sydney and Port Moresby producer Oil Search Ltd. expects its Gobe oil and gas processing facilities and export pipeline in the Papua New Guinea southern highlands to be back on stream in the next few days. The plant was mostly left undamaged by the recent earthquake.
The company’s PNG-LNG project condensate handling plant at the Kutubu central processing facility is ready to resume production as soon as the Hides gas conditioning facilities come back on line. Production from the surrounding Kutubu fields is to be resumed progressively from late next week.
The Agogo plant and the Moran-4, Moran-6, and Moran-9 well pads, however, which were the most severely impacted by the quake still require repairs before Moran field can be brought back on stream.
Engineering teams are systematically reviewing all the company’s operated wells, gathering systems, production facilities, and other systems.
Peter Botten, Oil Search managing director, said the processing facilities have been largely undamaged and the engineering remedial work required for the company’s operations is to ensure the integrity and safety of the assets is under way.
