Baker Hughes: International rig count rises 19 in February

The international rig count increased by 19 units month-over-month to 979 in February from the 960 rigs counted in January, and up 38 from the 941 counted a year ago, according to Baker Hughes data.

The international offshore rig count for February was 194, down 2 from the 196 counted in the previous month, and down 6 from the 200 counted in February 2017.

The worldwide rig count for February was 2,271, up 96 from the 2,175 counted in January 2018, and up 244 from the 2,027 counted in February 2017.

Latin America gained 8 units in February to 199, down 20 units year-over-year.

The average US rig count for February was 969, up 32 from the 937 counted in January, and up 225 from the 744 counted in February 2017. The average Canadian rig count for February was 323, up 45 from the 278 counted in January, and down 19 from the 342 counted in February 2017.

The Asia-Pacific region was down 12 units during the month to 210 and down 14 rigs compared with its February 2017 average.

Africa was up 10 units during the month to 90, down 13 year-over-year.

Europe remained unchanged at 84 units in February but is down 23 units year-over-year.

The Middle East was up 13 units month-over-month at 396, up 14 from its January 2017 average.
