Erin Energy Corp., Houston, has discovered hydrocarbons in the Miocene formation based on preliminary evaluation after drilling the Oyo-NW well 9½ km northwest of Oyo Central field on Block 120 offshore Nigeria.

Erin Energy Corp., Houston, has made an indicated discovery based on preliminary evaluation after drilling the Oyo-NW well 9½ km northwest of Oyo Central field on Block 120 offshore Nigeria (OGJ Online, Dec. 7, 2017).

Preliminary evaluation of the well data shows logged pay in Miocene sands U7.0 and U8.0, with a gross thickness of 83.6 ft.

Erin Energy is working to estimate discovered volumes and determine a relevant appraisal and development program. Well-suspension activities are under way to reenter the well for possible production.

The well was drilled to the proposed total vertical depth subsea of 12,218 ft and penetrated multiple sand units with total gross thickness of 260 ft in 7,052-10,873 ft TVD subsea as interpreted from wireline log data.
