Chazen to succeed Irani as Oxy chief executive officer

Occidental Petroleum Corp. reported that Ray R. Irani will step down from the position of chief executive officer, effective May 2011, but will continue as full-time executive chairman.

-- Occidental Petroleum Corp. reported that Ray R. Irani will step down from the position of chief executive officer, effective May 2011, but will continue as full-time executive chairman.

Pres. and Chief Operating Officer Stephen I. Chazen will succeed Irani as chief executive officer. He has 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Chazen joined Oxy in 1994 as executive vice-president, corporate development. He was named chief financial officer in 1999. In 2007, he was elected president and chief financial officer. Chazen became president and chief operating officer in August.
