Cameroon’s Societe Nationale de Raffinage (Sonara) has hired Cegelec, Saint-Denis, France, to upgrade the management system and replace instrumentation and controls at the country’s 37,000-b/d refinery at Cape Lemboh Limbe.
By OGJ editors HOUSTON, May 20 -- Cameroon’s Societe Nationale de Raffinage (Sonara) has hired Cegelec, Saint-Denis, France, to upgrade the management system and replace instrumentation and controls at the country’s 37,000-b/d refinery at Cape Lemboh Limbe.
Most of the plant’s equipment, said the Cegelec announcement, dates from the late 1970s.
Under the €25 million contract, work will cover 18 months to replace the pneumatics found in most of the refinery’s 22 units with numeric controls and a safety programmable logic controller to improve supervision and safety.
The units will be operated from a new blast-proof control room. After performing the architectural and ergonomic design for the control room in 2008, Cegelec says, it received a contract late last year to manage and supervise its construction.
