bp signs long-term service agreement for Tangguh LNG operations
bp has let a long-term service agreement to Baker Hughes for its Tangguh LNG plant in Papua Barat, Indonesia.
The 90-month agreement covers spare parts, repair services, and field service engineering support for critical turbomachinery at the plant including heavy-duty gas turbines, steam turbines, and compressors for three LNG trains, Baker Hughes said in a release Aug. 26.
Baker Hughes is collaborating with PT Imeco Inter Sarana as its local consortium partner to deliver on the local content requirements of the agreement, it said.
Tangguh LNG
Tangguh LNG lies in Teluk Bintuni Regency in the Papua Barat Province of Indonesia and has been in operation since 2009. The plant consists of offshore gas production infrastructure supplying three 3.8 million tonnes/year (tpy) liquefaction trains. The plant supplies energy to the Asia-Pacific region.
The next planned phase of Tangguh development, the UCC project, is progressing.
At the Karim Yard in July, bp marked the first steel cutting for the Tangguh UCC project platform, marking the start of fabrication of the platform jacket.
The Tangguh UCC project, which includes the development of Ubadari gas field, enhanced gas recovery (EGR) through CCUS, and onshore compression, expands and utilizes existing infrastructure at the Tangguh LNG plant, according to the operator's website.
The Tangguh UCC project has the potential to produce about 3 tcf of additional gas resources in Indonesia to help meet Asia's growing energy needs, and is targeting sequestration of abuot 15 million tonnes CO2 in the initial phase, bp noted.
Ubadari field production is expected to begin in 2028.
bp is operator of Tangguh LNG, acting on behalf of the Tangguh cooperation contract partners. bp operates Tangguh with a participation of 40.22%, together with its partners, namely MI Berau BV (16.30%), CNOOC Muturi ltd.
