Construction of the jetty for the Natural Gas Infrastructure Co. of Cyprus’s (ETYFA) LNG terminal near Vasilikos on the country’s southern coast has begun. Work is now expected to be complete in October 2023 instead of June 2023, according to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).

ETYFA’s contractor on the project is a consortium of China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co. Ltd., Metron Energy Applications SA, Hudonzg-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Co. Preparation of the 125,000-cu m floating storage and regasification unit Etyfa Prometheas, to be moored to the jetty, is 90% complete at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industries Co. Ltd.’s yard in Shanghai.

The project is expected to cost €315 million, €101 million of which is being provided through the European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility. The Electricity Authority of Cyprus will provide €43 million, with the balance borrowed from the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, CNA reported.
