Kinder Morgan reports northern California pipeline fire

Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP (KMP), Houston, reported that a third-party contractor struck its San Jose 10-in. products pipeline Tuesday in Walnut Creek, Calif., causing a gasoline release and fire.

HOUSTON, Nov. 10 -- Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP (KMP), Houston, reported that a third-party contractor struck its San Jose 10-in. products pipeline Tuesday in Walnut Creek, Calif., causing a gasoline release and fire.

The accident caused unspecified injuries. KMP evacuated the area, shut down the pipeline, and notified regulatory agencies.

The San Jose line is part of KMP's 3,850-mile Pacific products system in California and neighboring states.
