HOUSTON, Sept. 13 -- SEA Gas Pty. Ltd., a 50:50 joint venture of Australian National Power and Origin Energy Pty., has awarded Kellogg Brown & Root a contract for a gas pipeline from the Port Campbell area in Victoria to Adelaide, South Australia.
KBR will perform first-phase engineering, pipeline flow simulation, development of specifications, and tendering for procurement and construction of the 660 km pipeline.
KBR said most of South Australia's gas is supplied by the Cooper basin in Central Australia via the Moomba to Adelaide pipeline. When completed in early 2004, the $250 million (Aus.) pipeline will bring gas to South Australia from the Otway basin.
SEA Gas plans to obtain finances by March. A preferred corridor for the pipeline has been assessed and construction should begin in May.
