Venture proposes California LNG terminal

ConocoPhillips Co. has signed a joint development agreement with Mitsubishi Corp. subsidiary Sound Energy Solutions (SES) to build an LNG import terminal in Long Beach, Calif.

HOUSTON, May 18 -- ConocoPhillips Co. has signed a joint development agreement with Mitsubishi Corp. subsidiary Sound Energy Solutions (SES) to build an LNG import terminal in Long Beach, Calif.

The proposed terminal would have capacity of 5 million tonnes/year and supply the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.

ConocoPhillips and SES will form SES Terminal LLC, an equally owned joint venture that is expected to complete the proposed terminal in 2009.
