MELBOURNE, Oct. 20 -- Australian Pipeline Trust (APT), Sydney, plans to add a gas turbine compressor at the Paraburdoo compressor station on its Goldfields natural gas transmission pipeline, which extends from Dampier to Kalgoorlie-Kambalda in Western Australia.

The $15 million (Aus.) expansion will increase the 869-mile line's capacity, enabling it to fulfill a 16-year contract to supply gas to Hamersley Iron's Paraburdoo iron ore mine in the Pilbara region.

The contract calls for transportation of 14.88 MMcfd of gas to the mine beginning in late 2006.
