Canada's net crude oil exports fell almost 37% in 1989, Ottawa reports.
Net exports-total exports minus total imports-in 1989 were 164,430 b/d, compared with 260,190 b/d in 1988 and 218,421 b/d in 1987. Gross oil exports in 1989 fell-for the first time in the 1980s-to 648,900 b/d from 711,900 b/d in 1988 vs. 627,291 b/d in 1987. Imports of oil jumped to 484,470 b/d in 1989 from 451,710 b/d in 1988 an 408,870 b/d in 1987.
