Arnold to lead energy investment banking at Dahlman Rose
Dahlman Rose & Co. has named Rome Arnold as managing director and Head of Energy Investment Banking. Arnold has more than 26 years of experience as an investment banker serving the energy industry. Arnold has extensive experience as a lead advisor to energy industry companies in equity and debt offerings as well as corporate mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Dahlman Rose, Arnold served on the strategic advisory board and as a consultant to Energy Ventures. He received his MBA from Harvard Business School and his BA from Yale College.Former Congressman Stupak joins Venable's Washington office
Bart Stupak, the former nine-term congressman from Michigan, has joined the Washington DC office of Venable LLP as a legislative and government affairs partner. Before he decided against running for re-election last year, Stupak was a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and chairman of its subcommittee on oversight and investigations. He is considered an authority on international trade and energy, as well as environmental protection. Stupak is also a fellow at Harvard University's Institute of Politics.Rabalais to join new Houston office of Simpson ThacherSimpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP plans to open an office in Houston and Robert R. Rabalais will join the office as a partner in the Banking and Credit Practice Group. Rabalais' practice focuses on a range of commercial and capital markets financings and derivatives transactions in the oil and gas exploration and production and related service segments. He received both a bachelor's degree and a JD from Louisiana State University, graduating from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1989. Rabalais will join from Vinson & Elkins LLP where he is a partner. In addition to Rabalais, corporate partner David Lieberman, head of the firm's Energy and Infrastructure Practice Group, will be involved in Houston engagements, maintaining a presence there while being based in New York. The Houston office will be supported by partners Bill Curbow, Wilson Neely, Gary Sellers and Andrew Smith in New York, all of whom are active participants in the firm's Energy and Infrastructure Practice Group. The firm expects to formally open the Houston office in mid-2011.First Reserve expands energy-infrastructure teamFirst Reserve Corp. has expanded its energy-infrastructure team with the appointment of James Berner as director and Adi Blum and Mark Saxe as vice presidents. Berner has more than 17 years of energy-related debt and equity-finance. experience including principal energy investing, deal sourcing, execution, and governance in the US, Europe, and Asia. He previously worked at General Electric Capital Energy Financial Services where he was a managing director and led coverage of the US utility sector. He has a bachelor's degree from Cornell University and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Saxe joins from Loews Corp., where he served as a director. He was at Loews for six and half years, where he gained broad energy infrastructure experience. He holds a BCom degree from McGill University. Blum joins from High Road Capital Partners, a middle market private equity firm where he served as a vice president. He holds a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service and an MBA from New York University, Stern School of Business.Hackett won't return to Halliburton board
According to a recent Halliburton Securities and Exchange Commission filing, Anadarko Petroleum Corp. CEO Jim Hackett won't be renominated to serve on Halliburton's board of directors because Anadarko spends too much money with Halliburton. Hackett joined the company's board in 2008. He was removed from Halliburton's audit and compensation committees in March 2010 once it was realized that Anadarko spent more than 2% of its gross revenue with Halliburton in 2009 and Hackett could no longer be considered an independent director.Corporate partner joins Latham & Watkins' energy industry practice
Latham & Watkins LLP has named Ryan J. Maierson as a partner in the corporate department of the firm's Houston office. Maierson's practice includes advising on mergers and acquisitions, representing sponsors and portfolio companies in private equity investments, representing issuers and underwriters in securities offerings, and advising on corporate governance matters. Maierson joins the firm from Baker Botts LLP, where he had been a partner since 2007. He received his JD with honors from The University of Texas Law School and graduated with a BS in economics, magna cum laude, from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.Zion O&G promotes Sheena to CFOZion O&G Inc. has named Ilan Sheena as the company's CFO. Sheena replaces Kent Siegel, who resigned from the company. Sheena has been vice president (finance) of the company's Israeli branch since November 2009 and managing director of the Israeli branch since August 2010. He holds a degree in from Tel Aviv University and is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Israel.King & Spalding adds Hunt to London officeMartin Hunt is joining the London office of King & Spalding. Hunt is a UK solicitor who also is a US qualified lawyer in Texas and New York. Hunt joins from Bracewell & Giuliani LLP, where he was a partner. Hunt represents national and international clients in oil and gas, telecommunications, water, construction and chemicals industries in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, restructurings and private equity funds. He represents European companies that have businesses in the United States and US companies that do business overseas on transactions, key contracts, significant acquisitions and mergers, and the potential antitrust issues that arise from these activities. Hunt received his bachelor's degree and master's degree from St. Catharine's College, Cambridge University.Alexander Peng named VP at Baker HughesBaker Hughes Inc. has chosen Alexander Peng to serve as vice president (tax) in the firm's Houston office. Peng most recently served as vice president, taxes for SPX Corp. Previously he was with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was a director focused primarily on tax advisory services for global manufacturing companies in industrial products and aerospace industries. Peng is a CPA and holds a graduate degree from the Charles H. Kellstadt School of Business at DePaul University in Chicago, IL and undergraduate degrees from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.Chevron names Bennett treasurerChevron Corp. has named Paul V. Bennett vice president and treasurer. Bennet joined Chevron in 1980 as a financial analyst in the comptroller's department. He assumed finance positions of increasing responsibility and was named vice president of finance, Downstream and Chemicals in 2009. Bennett earned his bachelor's degree at Wesleyan University and his master's degree at the University of California, Berkeley. He replaces Pierre R. Breber, who has been appointed deputy managing director of Chevron's Asia South Business Unit in the company's international exploration and production business, which oversees Thailand, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Myanmar.Protheroe to lead Lloyd's Register Americas' energy businessLloyd's Register Americas Inc. has appointed Regional Marine Manager Tim Protheroe to also lead the organization's Houston-based energy business, effective July 1. Protheroe inherits the role from Duco de Haan, who will relocate to the Netherlands to serve as the chief executive and managing director of the ModuSpec Group, a member of the Lloyd's Register Group. Protheroe joined Lloyd's Register in 1992 and held leadership roles in London, Copenhagen, Miami and the Seattle marine offices before arriving in Houston in late 2003 to oversee marine business development in the Americas. He was appointed to his current role in July 2007.Mark Kittridge joins Ikon Science Americas as VP of technologyIkon Science, a global geoscience technology company, has named Mark Kittridge as vice president of technology for Ikon Science Americas. He joins with more than 23 years' experience in onshore US, Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, West Africa, Brazil, Egypt, Russia, and the Philippines in petrophysics, including well operations, integrated reservoir studies, geopressure, EOR, unconventional reservoirs, and rock physics. Kittridge previously worked at ConocoPhillips in Houston as manager of petrophysical analysis and rock physics, subsurface technology — reservoir description. Prior to ConocoPhillips, Kittridge spent over 20 years at Shell. He holds a master's degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor of science and professional degree in geological engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.Gilbronson, Bright to head Apache oil and gas marketingApache Corp. has named Dave Gilbronson and Mark Bright to lead the company's oil and gas marketing organization. Gilbronson has been appointed vice president of international marketing, and Bright has been named vice president of North America marketing. Gilbronson, director of risk management since 2009, joined Apache in 1988. Earlier, he was vice president of commercial and governmental affairs in Argentina, operations general manager for Apache Egypt Companies, managing director of Apache Poland, and director of international technical services based in Houston. Bright, Apache's controller of North America accounting since 2006, joined Apache in 1999. He held positions of increasing responsibility within the finance organization.Sun River Energy shuffles managementDallas-based Sun River Energy Inc. has made changes to its management team and board of directors. Judson F. Hoover has been named CFO to replace Don Schmidt as acting CFO, so that Schmidt may focus on his duties as CEO. Since January 12, Hoover has been employed by the company on an interim basis to provide financial and other services. He received his bachelor's degree from Regis University and is a CPA. From June 2007 to June 2009, he served as controller for Union Drilling Inc. James E. Pennington has been named general counsel and secretary. He has been acting as the company's general counsel since January 12. Prior, Pennington was acting as outside legal counsel for the company. He replaces Stuart Newsome as general counsel and secretary. Newsome now serves as manager of Sun River's land department. The company has also increased the number of board members and added Dr. Steven R. Henson to serve as an independent director. The board is expected to establish an audit committee, of which, it is expected that Henson will be named a member.Hicks resigns VP post at TGS-NOPECDavid Hicks has resigned his role of senior vice president of Africa, Middle East and Far East at TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Co. ASA to pursue other opportunities.Bankers Petroleum makes board, management changesBankers Petroleum Ltd. has made changes to its board of directors and management team. Abdel Badwi, president, CEO, and a director of Bankers, has been appointed vice chairman of the board. He will remain as president and CEO. Ian McMurtrie has been appointed as a director. He will retire from his position as executive vice president exploration and development on December 31, 2011. Suneel Gupta, vice president production and operations since 2008, has been appointed executive vice president and COO. Bayne Assmus, manager engineering since 2007, has been appointed vice president production and operations. Craig Nardone, manager geology since 2007, has been appointed vice president exploration and development. Leonidha Çobo, vice president and deputy general director of Bankers Petroleum Albania Ltd. since 2008, has been appointed vice president and general director of Bankers Albania.Terry Fullerton tapped senior VP at Equal EnergyEqual Energy Ltd. has appointed Terry Fullerton as senior vice president, exploration, responsible for oversight of the company's geological and geophysical activities. Teplitsky to vice president. Crumbaugh joined Wynnchurch Capital as a senior associate in 2010. Prior, he served as an investment professional at ShoreView Industries. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Teplitsky joined Wynnchurch Capital as a senior associate in 2008.
