Caminos resigns as BPZ CFO

Edward G. Caminos, CFO of BPZ Resources Inc., has resigned to pursue other opportunities. Richard (Rick) Menniti began serving as interim CFO on July 1, 2011. Menniti has held management positions in the US and abroad during his 30-year career with Royal Dutch Shell plc companies. He is a certified public accountant, a certified management accountant, a certified treasury professional, and holds an MBA. Preng & Associates will assist BPZ in the search for a new CFO.

Apache makes leadership changes
JeppesenApache Corp. has made changes to its management team. Jon Jeppesen has been promoted to the new role of executive vice president overseeing the operations of the Gulf of Mexico shelf, deepwater, and Gulf Coast onshore regions. Jon Graham has been named vice president of the global environmental, health and safety organization. Mark Bauer has been promoted to region vice president for the Gulf of Mexico shelf. Michael Bose moved up to region vice president and country manager for Argentina. Graham Lawton was named vice president of liquefied natural gas projects, leading the Kitimat project team for the LNG facility and Pacific Trail Pipelines. Kenny Paterson has been named vice president, LNG marketing and shipping, of Apache Energy Ltd. Before assuming his current role, Jeppesen served as executive vice president, senior vice president and regional vice president for the Gulf Coast Region. He also served as the company's vice president of exploration and development for North America and manager of the company's offshore exploration and development. Prior to joining the company in 1993, Jeppesen was vice president of exploration and development for Pacific Enterprises Oil Co. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in geology from Kansas State University. Graham joined the company in 1994 and previously served as region vice president and country manager of Argentina. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri, Rolla and his MBA from the University of Oklahoma. Bauer joined the company in 1992 and previously served as director of planning. He holds a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University. Bose joined Apache in 2004 and previously served as development/exploitation manager for the Argentina region. He holds a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University. Lawton joined Apache in March 2011. Prior to joining Apache, Lawton was vice president of LNG at Hunt Oil Co. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Sheffield in England. Paterson joined Apache in 2010 as director of Asia oil and gas marketing, working in the Perth office. He holds an MBA from Strathclyde Business School in Glasgow and a bachelor's degree from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland.Everts named new lead for Shell Energy North America
EvertsFrans Everts will serve as leader of Shell's wholly owned natural gas, power and environmental products marketing and trading subsidiary, Shell Energy North America (US) LP and its subsidiaries, including Shell Energy North America (Canada) Inc. Everts has been with Shell for more than 20 years and most recently served as the general manager for Shell Lubricants' global car care business line. Mark Quartermain, former Shell Energy business lead, will assume a new role serving as vice president of Strategy for Shell's Downstream Portfolio, and will be based in London. Everts earned what is equivalent in the United States to a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in business from the Groningen University in the Netherlands.Eureka Energy names Mills CEO

Eureka Energy Ltd. has appointed Peter Mills as the company's managing director and CEO. Mills is a qualified engineer with extensive oil and gas experience and was appointed as the company's technical director (non-executive) in October 2010. He has close to 30 years of experience in the industry. He is currently a director of Castle Energy Consultants, and his more recent roles have been president of Premier Oil Indonesia, president of Hess Indonesia and technical manager for Hess UK.

Mallet wins EAGE Erasmus Award
MalletProfessor Jean-Laurent Mallet, a senior research fellow at Paradigm, has been chosen to receive the Erasmus Award 2011, in recognition of the nature, scope and impact of his lifelong research. The European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers (EAGE) presents this award every year to one of its members for their lifetime contribution in the field of resource exploration and development. "We are of course very proud that the distinguished Erasmus Award be bestowed on Professor Mallet. His leadership of the GOCAD consortium since 1990 provided the energy industry with the first modeling technologies suitable for structural and reservoir property workflows," said Eldad Weiss, CEO of Paradigm. "His more recent work on the SKUA framework has redefined modeling, removing the need for compromises and data simplification, while making geologically-consistent model building accessible to a much wider user community." Prof. Mallet is the author of "Numerical Earth Models," a scientific book that explores the breakthrough Subsurface Knowledge Unified Approach technology that underlies the Paradigm™ SKUA® modeling environment. Robert (Don) Gray joins the company as vice president of land and Louis Romero as vice president of exploration. Each has over 30 years of experience in their respective fields. Gray joined White Marlin from Radiant Oil & Gas where he served as vice president of land and land manager. Prior to Radiant, Gray was land manager for Americo Energy Resources and Petro-Guard Operating Co. He attended the University of Texas in Austin. Romero is a professional geologist with over 30 years of domestic and international oil and gas experience. His background includes prospect generation, screening, and company operations and management for hydrocarbon exploration in many of the basins of North America and internationally in the Far East, South America and Africa. He has previously worked with Devon Energy, Ocean Energy, Sandefer Oil and Gas, Crown Central Petroleum, Transco Exploration, and as an independent producer.Johnson, McKay join King & Spalding

Ralph H. Johnson and Lynn Kerr McKay, experienced litigators specializing in radiation disputes, have joined King & Spalding's energy and environmental practices as counsel in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining King & Spalding, Johnson and McKay were partners at Blank & Rome LLP. Johnson, a former Justice Department attorney, has represented major oil companies in cases alleging personal injury and property damage from naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM) associated with oil and gas production. He also has represented nuclear power companies in lawsuits claiming personal injury caused by radiation exposure. Johnson served as an assistant US attorney for the District of Utah and a senior trial attorney and assistant director in the civil division of the US Dept. of Justice in Washington, D.C. He received a JD degree from the University of Utah's S.J. Quinney College of Law and a bachelor's degree from Weber State University. McKay represents clients in matters involving oil and gas NORM, oil and gas groundwater contamination and nuclear power plant operations. McKay counsels clients on compliance with US Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations and other state and federal controls for radioactive materials. McKay received a JD degree, cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law and bachelor's degree from the College of William & Mary.

Dril-Quip makes management changes

Offshore drilling and production equipment manufacturer Dril-Quip has made management changes. Blake T. DeBerry assumes the position of senior vice president—sales and engineering and James A. Gariepy becomes senior vice president—manufacturing, project management and service. DeBerry has been with Dril-Quip since 1988. He has held a number of management and engineering positions in the company's domestic and international offices, including Houston, Texas, Aberdeen, Scotland and, most recently, Singapore. Since August 2005, DeBerry has served as general manager of the company's Asia-Pacific region headquartered in Singapore. In addition, he was named vice president—Dril-Quip Asia-Pacific in March 2007. He holds a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University. Gariepy joined the company in 2004. Since July 2005, he has served as general manager of the company's Eastern Hemisphere region headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland. He was named vice president—Dril-Quip Europe in March 2007. He holds a bachelor's degree from Lawrence Technological University and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas.

Ghauri joins Andrews Kurth LLP

Oil and gas attorney Shahid A. Ghauri has joined Andrews Kurth LLP as a partner. Ghauri joins the Business Transactions (Oil & Gas) and Project Finance sections in the firm's Houston office. A former petroleum engineer, Ghauri has more than 20 years of experience in the legal, financial and technical aspects of the oil and gas industry. Ghauri regularly handles mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, corporate governance and other finance issues. In addition to his corporate clients, he also represents a variety of oil and gas industry directors, committees and executives. Ghauri earned his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center, and received his undergraduate and master's degrees in petroleum engineering from The University of Texas.
