Energy trading and risk management expert Pilipovic joins Allegro Development
PilipovicAllegro Development Corp., a provider of energy trading and risk management (ETRM) software, has named Dragana Pilipovic as the company's director of quantitative analytics. Pilipovic is a recognized authority on energy markets who specializes in implementing practical quantitative solutions to manage energy risk. Pilipovic is the author of the book "Energy Risk: Valuing and Managing Energy Derivatives," which explores risk management methodologies in the electricity, natural gas, heating and crude oil markets. A graduate of Harvard and Brown Universities, Dragana Pilipovic brings more than 20 years of experience examining energy market behavior and fundamental risk drivers, and developing trading and risk models to help organizations value assets and manage risk. In her role at Allegro, Pilipovic will lead the development of option models, risk analytics, and functionality for portfolio and asset optimization, as well as work to help customers optimize their utilization of Allegro's analytics capabilities. She most recently was a partner at Risk Cultures Inc., and founder and president of SAVA Risk Management Corp.CIT names Chai president
ChaiCIT Group Inc. has named Nelson J. Chai as president. Chai previously served as the company's executive vice president, chief administrative officer and head of strategy. As president, Chai will maintain his current responsibilities and also assume oversight of CIT's corporate finance and vendor finance operating segments. Chai will continue to oversee CIT's global infrastructure and operating architecture including its technology platforms. He will also continue to lead the company's strategic planning and business development, as well as oversee the insurance and corporate services functions. Prior to CIT, Chai served as executive vice president and CFO of Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. BarnettKeith Barnett has joined Spring Rock Production LLC as executive vice president. Barnett, most recently the Director of Strategic Analysis at Merrill Lynch Commodities Inc., will be responsible for developing and launching the company's US and Canadian crude oil production forecast report. In April, Spring Rock Production, an affiliate of Waterborne Energy, introduced a new forecasting and analysis service that offers clients detailed monthly reports that include forecasting up to two years out; a variety of frequent updates on natural gas prices, rig counts and pipe production data; along with E&P news, investor perspectives, regulatory filing information and intelligence. ChuckryIn response to strong demand for geophysical services by the Canadian energy sector, Spectraseis has opened its third North American office in Calgary, Canada, appointing Todd Chuckry as Country Manager for Canada. The first two North American offices were opened in Houston and Denver earlier in the year. Previously, Sallis served as senior vice president, Business Capture and Delivery, for AMEC Paragon, the oil and gas business unit of AMEC Natural Resources Americas. Sallis has been with AMEC for 23 years, responsible for multiple project and corporate roles in the UK, South Africa, Angola, China and the US. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology in the UK.Rowan names new COO, senior VPRowan Companies Inc. has named Thomas P. Burke COO, and Melanie M. Trent has been appointed to serve as senior vice president, chief administrative officer, and corporate secretary. Burke, who joined the company in December 2009, previously served as the president and CEO of the company's now sold manufacturing subsidiary, LeTourneau Technologies Inc. JacobsDecision Strategies, a Houston-based strategic management consulting firm, has appointed Patrick Leach as CEO and Steve Jacobs, COO. Pat Leach has more than 30 years of industry experience, having spent the last seven with Decision Strategies. He replaces Chris Reinsvold who resigned to pursue other interests. Prior to his appointment, Leach was a Decision Strategies principal extensively involved in the implementation of strategic initiatives, probabilistic methodologies and analysis of upstream energy projects. He holds an MBA from the University of Houston and a bachelor's degree in geomechanics from the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. Jacobs, who joined Decision Strategies in 2008 when his company, Resource Marketing International, was acquired, has more than 30 years of marketing research and consulting experience. He holds bachelor's degrees in psychology and education from Oklahoma State University, and is an Energy Information Ambassador for the Society of Petroleum Engineers.Kibsgaard to succeed Gould as Schlumberger CEOAndrew Gould, chairman and CEO of Schlumberger Ltd., has retired as CEO of the company. He continues to serve as chairman of the board until the annual general meeting of the company's stockholders in April 2012. Tony Isaac, the board's current independent lead director, is expected to be named the new non-executive chairman upon Gould's departure. Gould, who has served as the company's CEO since 2003, has been succeeded in that role by Paal Kibsgaard, COO of Schlumberger Ltd. During more than 14 years of employment with the company, Kibsgaard has held operational and management responsibility in the Middle East, Europe and the US, and has been involved in all aspects of the company's operations. Prior to his appointment as COO, Kibsgaard served as president of the Reservoir Characterization Group after assignments as vice president, engineering, manufacturing and sustaining; and vice president of personnel following a series of earlier international positions. Kibsgaard has served as COO since February 2010, and as a member of the Schlumberger Ltd. board since April 2011.Lou promoted to CFO of Oasis PetroleumOasis Petroleum Inc. has named Michael Lou as executive vice president and CFO. Previously, Lou served as senior vice president finance for Oasis. In his new role, Lou will expand his focus on financial strategy and execution and continue as a member of the Oasis senior leadership team. He joined the company in 2009. Lou has 14 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining Oasis, he served as CFO of a private oil and gas company and a director and vice president in several investment banking firms. He holds a bachelor's degree from Southern Methodist University.ION Geophysical plans leadership transitionION Geophysical Corp. has approved the transition of R. Brian Hanson to president and CEO and Robert P. Peebler to executive chairman, effective January 1, 2012. The transition of roles and responsibilities will begin immediately with Hanson assuming the position of president and COO and will conclude January 1, 2012 with Hanson assuming the additional role of CEO and Peebler assuming the position of executive chairman. Hanson will continue to serve as CFO until a suitable replacement is hired. Hanson joined ION in 2006 as executive vice president and CFO. Prior to joining ION, Hanson served as the executive vice president and CFO of Alliance Imaging Inc. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of New Brunswick and an MBA degree from Concordia University in Montreal.McConnell joins Asset Risk Management's new gas marketing businessAsset Risk Management LLC (ARM) is offering expanded risk management services to oil and gas producers through its new business unit, ARM Gas Marketing. Vincent "Vinny" McConnell has joined ARM's senior management team as senior vice president in charge of ARM Gas Marketing. McConnell was one of the first 20 employees of Dynegy Inc. where he held various managerial positions. He has more than 25 years of experience in the industry and most recently served as a consultant assisting end users and LDCs in the natural gas and NGL business. He earned a bachelor's degree from Villanova University.
