Uhl officially succeeds Henry as Shell CFO

As part of a planned transition announced in December, Simon Henry officially concluded his service as CFO of Royal Dutch Shell plc on March 9, 2017 and has been succeeded in the role by Jessica Uhl. Henry, who also stepped down from his position on the board of directors, spent over 30 years at Shell, seven in the CFO role. Henry will repatriate to the UK and become an employee of Shell International Ltd. He will be available to assist with CFO transition until June 30, 2017. Uhl, an executive director of Royal Dutch Shell and a member of the executive committee, is now based in The Netherlands. Uhl holds a BA in Political Economy from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from INSEAD. She joined Shell in 2004 and has held finance leadership roles, based in Europe and the USA, in Shell's Upstream, Integrated Gas and Downstream businesses, as well as in Projects & Technology and corporate headquarters. Before being appointed CFO, Uhl served as executive vice president, Finance for the Integrated Gas business. Prior to joining Shell, Uhl worked for Enron in Houston and Panama and Citibank in San Francisco.

Swift Energy names Van Riet CFO

Swift Energy Co. has appointed Gleeson Van Riet as executive vice president and CFO. Van Riet succeeds Alton Heckaman, the company's former CFO, who announced his retirement in August 2016. Heckaman will remain with the company through the first quarter of 2017, and thereafter will provide ongoing consulting support during the transition. Van Riet was previously the CFO of Sanchez Energy Corp. where he held a series of positions of increasing responsibility from April 2013 to March 2016. Van Riet has over 20 years of finance experience and previously worked as an investment banker with Credit Suisse and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in London and Los Angeles. Van Riet earned a dual BA and BS from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Halliburton names interim CFO; new SVP of finance announced

Mark McCollum has left his position as CFO of Halliburton Company to become CEO of Weatherford International plc. Halliburton executive vice president and general counsel, Robb L. Voyles, has been named interim CFO and will manage the CFO responsibilities in addition to his current responsibilities until a replacement is found. Voyles joined Halliburton in 2013 and is a member of the Halliburton Executive Committee. Before joining Halliburton, he was a senior partner at Baker Botts LLP where he served as Chair of the Litigation Department and a member of the Executive Committee. Voyles earned a JD degree from the University of Michigan Law School and a BBA in accounting from the University of Dayton. Additionally, the company has promoted Lyn Beaty to senior vice president of finance. Beaty's career with Halliburton began in the finance department and has spanned more than 30 years. Prior to her position as senior vice president of Internal Assurance Services, she held numerous finance positions. She earned her BBA from the University of Texas at Austin.

Dril-Quip names Bird VP, CFO

Dril-Quip Inc. has appointed Jeffrey J. Bird as vice president and CFO, succeeding Jerry M. Brooks, who accepted the newly created position of vice president of investor relations. Previously, Bird served as executive vice president and CFO of Frank's International.

M2 Subsea appoints new CFO

M2 Subsea has appointed Stuart Bannerman as the company's new CFO. Bannerman brings more than 30 years of executive management experience to the subsea business. Bannerman previously served as COO for BW Offshore, CFO at Remedial Offshore, and regional CFO at Technip. Based in Houston and Aberdeen, M2 Subsea is an independent provider of ROV services.

Baker Botts adds partners

Baker Botts LLP has added Larry Hall to the firm's Dallas office as a partner in the Corporate Department. Additionally, Andrea Stover has joined the firm's Global Projects Practice based in Austin. Hall's practice is focused on corporate and finance work for oil and gas companies. Hall graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BBA, with highest honors, and a JD from Harvard University. Stover's clients have included utilities and other regulated institutions, who appear before the courts and regulatory authorities on issues such as complaint cases, rate proceedings and applications for Certificates of Convenience and Necessity. Stover has a BA from the University of Texas and a JD, magna cum laude, from American University, Washington College of Law.

Trident makes executive appointments

Trident Exploration Corp. has made executive appointments, including a new CFO and COO. Mark Smith, PEng., was named COO. Smith has over 30 years of experience in production, operations, budgeting, capital management and project execution. Smith's experience includes executive positions with Burlington Resources Canada and Arcan Resources Ltd. He holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Western Ontario and is a professional engineer. Jean-Pierre (JP) Buyze was named CFO. Buyze has over 20 years of financing and advisory experience most recently as managing director of UBS Securities Canada in Calgary. Buyze earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and his MBA from the University of Western Ontario. Ken Young was named vice president, land. Young has over 30 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry in North America, most recently with Enerplus Corp. He holds a bachelor's degree in financial accounting from Mount Allison University.

Post Oak Energy Capital names Janke VP, Investor Relations

Post Oak Energy Capital has named Rainey Janke as vice president of investor relations. In the newly created position, Janke will serve as the company's primary liaison with institutional investors. Prior to joining Post Oak, Janke was vice president of investor relations at EnerVest Ltd. Janke helped raise five private equity funds totaling $7.5 billion and several co-investment partnerships totaling $734 million. She began her career at Frost National Bank in San Antonio, Texas. Janke holds a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.

OEM Group adds Macleod as director

Oil and gas marine services firm OEM Group has added Mike Macleod as the company's new finance director. With more than six years' experience working at the director level, Macleod has joined the Aberdeen-headquartered firm following 10 years at Uniconn Group. Macleod holds a degree in law and management from the Robert Gordon University.

Gibson Dunn adds partners

Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP has named new partners to the firm. Joining as a partner in the firm's Washington DC office is Avi Garbow. Garbow most recently served as the general counsel for the US EPA, following prior service as a trial attorney for the US DOJ's Environmental Crimes Section. At Gibson Dunn, he will focus on high-stakes environmental litigation, investigations and enforcement defense, and cutting-edge environmental policy matters, including those relating to global climate change policies and regulations, and the development and use of emerging environmental technologies. Garbow graduated from University of Virginia School of Law. Following the announcement of the opening of its new Houston office on February 6, the firm added two partners, Michael P. Darden and Justin T. Stolte. Both lawyers will focus on oil and gas-related transactions. Darden joins the firm from Latham & Watkins, where he served as Global Chair of the Oil & Gas Transactions Practice and Global Co-Chair of the Oil & Gas Industry Team. He received his JD from the University of Houston Law Center, an MBA from Rice University and a BBA from The University of Texas. Stolte joins from Apache Corp., where he carried out upstream and midstream oil and gas transactions in a business/commercial role for the Business Development Group. Stolte received his JD from the University of Notre Dame and holds a degree from the Colorado School of Mines.

Mair joins management at Ashtead

Ashtead Technology has named David Mair to its senior management team as a business development director. Mair has over 20 years of oil and gas industry experience. Previously, he served as global business development director for Hoover Ferguson Group. Mair will be based in Aberdeen. Ashtead Technology is an independent subsea equipment solutions specialist.

Oxy appoints Jackson VP, IR

Occidental Petroleum has named Richard A. Jackson as vice president of investor relations (IR). The company will relocate its IR office from New York to Houston. Jackson joined Occidental in 2003 from ExxonMobil. He earned a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University. Anthony J. Cottone, previously director, investor relations, has been promoted to senior director and will focus on relationships with securities analysts and institutional shareholders. Cottone joined Occidental in 2012 from Macquarie Group. A graduate of Emory University, Cottone holds a bachelor's degree, as well as an MBA from Columbia University.

Romig joins McDonald Hopkins

Drew B. Romig has joined the Columbus office of McDonald Hopkins LLC, a business advisory and advocacy law firm. Romig is an associate in the Energy Practice Group. He joins with six years of experience working with clients in the oil and gas industry, specifically assisting with complex mineral title work. Romig earned his JD from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and a BA from Miami University.
