HOUSTON, May 19
– Merchant Energy Partners LLC, a private Denver natural gas storage developer, let a contract for front-end engineering and design services for the first phase of the East Cheyenne gas storage project in Logan County, Colo.

ENGlobal, Houston, will handle the project, which has an estimated total installed cost of $90 million. The field, on 6,000 acres, is to have 18.9 bcf of working gas and be completed by September 2011.

The contract scope includes a compressor station, a gas processing facility, gathering lines, pipeline interconnects, and a metering station. The field is to serve market demand in the Midwest and western US.
