Tap Oil Ltd., Perth, said the Markisa-1 exploration well in Brunei’s Baram Delta onshore encountered good oil shows and a possible 29-m true vertical oil column in the Tertiary Ridan sand formation at 1,070-1,100 m.

HOUSTON, Oct. 12
– Tap Oil Ltd., Perth, said the Markisa-1 exploration well in Brunei’s Baram Delta onshore encountered good oil shows and a possible 29-m true vertical oil column in the Tertiary Ridan sand formation at 1,070-1,100 m.

The company is conducting wireline sampling and sidewall coring. TD is 1,300 m measured depth.

The well is south of Belait oil and gas field on 3,011 sq km Block M. Block interests are Tap Energy (Borneo) Pty. Ltd. operator with 39%, Triton Borneo Ltd. 36%, China Sino Oil Co. Ltd. 21%, and Jana Corp. Sdn. Bhd. 4%.
