Total SA has acquired an 85% interest in deepwater Block SK317B off Sarawak, Malaysia.

HOUSTON, Nov. 19 – Total SA has acquired an 85% interest in deepwater Block SK317B off Sarawak, Malaysia.

The block covers more than 700 sq km in 200-1,000 m of water 100 km offshore. Total will operate the block, and Petronas Carigali holds the other 15% interest.

Total operates the PM303 and PM324 blocks with Petronas Carigali off Peninsular Malaysia, where high-pressure-high temperature exploratory drilling will start in 2011.
