HOUSTON, Nov. 3 – Elk Hills Heavy Oil LLC has an indicated discovery, to be named Morris field, in Carbon County, Mont., southwest of Billings.

The company set 7-in. production casing after the first well logged and cored a continuous 93 ft in the Pennsylvanian Tensleep formation. A second well is drilling.

Consulting geoscientists estimated 9 million bbl of oil in place under 1,000 acres in the 22,000-acre Elk Hills project, said Stellar Resources Ltd., Melbourne, Australia.

Stellar Resources and Elk Hills Petroleum Canada Ltd. each owns 50% of EHHO.
