HOUSTON, Nov. 22 – A group led by Northern Petroleum PLC has spudded the Markwells Wood-1 exploratory well between the Horndean and Singleton producing oil fields in the southern UK.

The well is to go to 6,009 ft measured depth, 4,528 ft true vertical depth, at a drillsite assessed to be a possible extension of Singleton.

License partners are Northern Petroleum 50%, Magellan Petroleum (UK) Ltd. 40%, and Egdon Resources UK Ltd. 10%.
