Reliance Industries Ltd. has resumed drilling the KGV-D3-W1 exploratory well in 1,653 m of water on the D3 license in India’s Krishna-Godavari basin.

HOUSTON, Aug. 11
– Reliance Industries Ltd. has resumed drilling the KGV-D3-W1 exploratory well in 1,653 m of water on the D3 license in India’s Krishna-Godavari basin.

The Transocean Deepwater Expedition drillship the well Apr. 2, and drilling was suspended at the end of May at 2,608 m measured depth for an unresolved problem with the blowout preventer control system, said 10% interest owner Hardy Oil & Gas PLC.

Drilling resumed Aug. 10 with the Transocean Discoverer 534 drillship toward the 3,514-m target depth to explore the hydrocarbon potential of Mio-Pliocene sands. The block covers 3,288 sq km.
