HOUSTON, Aug. 17
-- Italy’s Eni SPA has signed a farm-in agreement with Surestream Petroleum, Reading, UK, to become operator of the 1,120-sq-km Ndunda Block in western Congo (former Zaire).

The block, which Eni describes as in the “Bassin Cotier” along a “scarcely explored onshore region of the prolific Lower Congo basin,” is bordered on the south by the Congo River and on the west by two other Surestream blocks, Yema and Matamba Makanzi.

New interests are Eni 55%, Surestream RDC Sarl 30%, state-owned Cohydro 8%, and Ibos Sprl 7%.
