HOUSTON, Aug. 3 -- Cadogan Petroleum PLC has placed on production the No. 3 well on the 49.6 sq km Zagoryanske license in eastern Ukraine’s Dnieper-Donets basin.

The well was drilled to a TD of 5,110 m in 2009 and is the field’s first to produce commercially from the Upper Visean V-18 horizon. The reservoir remains to be fully mapped, and more wells will be needed to fully exploit it, Cadogan said.

Early tests of the Tournasian and Lower Visean intervals were unsuccessful, but Cadogan believes the well could produce at commercial rates from those formations with proper test procedures, an appropriate completion string, and stimulations.
