Regal Petroleum PLC, operator and full owner of the 6,285-sq km Barlad concession in northeastern Romania, has spudded the E-1 Sagna exploratory well.

HOUSTON, Aug. 25 – Regal Petroleum PLC, operator and full owner of the 6,285-sq km Barlad concession in northeastern Romania, has spudded the E-1 Sagna exploratory well.

The well is being drilled based on an expanded network of 2D seismic profiles close to Regal’s RBN-4 gas discovery drilled in late 2007. It is designed to provide an additional test of the regionally productive gas-bearing Sarmatian-aged sandstone reservoirs.

The well is expected to reach its planned total depth of 900 m by mid-September.
