– Canbriam Energy Inc., Calgary, and Gastem Inc., Montreal, have spud the St. Hyacinthe HZ1A horizontal well in Quebec’s St. Lawrence Lowlands using a rig brought from drilling the St. Barnabe, where it drilled a second horizontal well.

The companies plan to drill St. Hyacinthe to 3,369 m measured depth including a 1,000-m lateral, after which the three horizontal wells on the 37,247-ha block are to be fracture stimulated. The laterals are drilled into the Ordovician Utica shale.
