HOUSTON, Dec. 8
– A group led by Northern Petroleum Plc began production Dec. 4 from Grolloo, first of four gas and two oil fields being developed onshore the Netherlands.

Sales began at 7.4 MMscfd. All four gas fields, including Geesbrug, Wijk en Aalburg, and Brakel, are to have been developed by early 2010 with production totaling 30 MMscfd. Geesbrug is to come on line within weeks.

Participants and interests are Northern Petroleum Nederland BV 45%, Netherlands state EBN 40%, and Dyas Petroleum BV 15%. The production is the first following a 2005 agreement between NPN and Nederlandse Aardolie Mij.

Grolloo gas is being delivered via a dedicated pipeline to NAM-operated Vries facilities and on to Westerveld process facilities.
