HOUSTON, Sept. 8 – Emerald Energy PLC tested 32.5° gravity oil at the rate of 731 b/d on a 48-hr test from Villeta U sand at 11,030 ft at the Mirto-1 exploratory well in Colombia’s Putumayo basin.
The test was on a jet pump through a 128/64-in. choke from a 20-ft interval at the top of the sand. Water cut was 26%. Caballos produced formation water, Villeta T made noncommercial amounts of oil, and Villeta N is still to be tested, said La Cortez Energy Inc., Bogota.
The well is on the 36,608-ha Maranta block near Costayaco oil field.
Once La Cortez has completed funding its share of completion and testing costs it will ask Emerald to file a request with Colombia’s Agencia Nacional de Hidrocarburos to have Emerald’s 20% participation interest in Maranta officially assigned to La Cortez.
