By OGJ editors HOUSTON, July 25 -- OGX Petroleo e Gas Participacoes SA, Rio de Janeiro, said it discovered hydrocarbons in the Santonian and Albian sections of the 1-OGX-52-RJS well on the BM-C-41 block in the southern Campos basin off Brazil.
The OGX-52 well, known as Tambora, is in 130 m of water 93 km off Rio de Janeiro state. OGX has 100% working interest in the block.
The Tambora discovery, near Waimea, tested a 174-m hydrocarbon column with 96 m of net pay Albian calcarenites in a deeper position independent of the prior discovery. It also found a 12-m hydrocarbon column with 5 m of net pay in Santonian sandstones.
