Amoco to boost Romanian gas output

Amoco Romania Petroleum Co. has submitted a proposal to the Romanian government for boosting production in 20 gas fields in the Transylvanian basin. Amoco plans to work with state companies Petrom and Romgaz to boost combined output by 2-4 billion cu m/year from the current 18 billion cu m/year. Amoco Romania Petroleum Co. has submitted a proposal to the Romanian government for boosting production in 20 gas fields in the Transylvanian basin.

Amoco plans to work with state companies Petrom and Romgaz to boost combined output by 2-4 billion cu m/year from the current 18 billion cu m/year.

An Amoco official said details of the project, including field names and costs, could not be revealed ahead of Bucharest government approval of the plan. Amoco hopes contracts for the project will be signed in September.

Mike Adams, president of Amoco Romania, said, "We hope to begin work later this year to increase the daily gas production rate before the end of the upcoming winter season."
