SHELL MAPS AUSSIE SPENDING
Shell Australia plans to spend $1 billion Australian ($1.27 billion U.S.y on exploration and production during the next 5 years.
The sum includes Shell's contribution to the Northwest Shelf project: the Goodwyn A platform, the third train at the Burrup Peninsula gas liquefaction plant in Western Australian, and four more LNG tankers.
Substantial spending also is scheduled for the Cossack, Wanaea, Cowle, and Yammaderry discoveries.
Total spending by Shell Australia during 1991-95 will be $3 billion Australian ($3.81 billion U.S.) with $950 million Australian ($1.2 billion U.S.) scheduled for 1991.
Ric Charlton, Shell Australia chairman and chief executive officer, said about $720 million Australian ($914 million U.S.) will be spent on manufacturing, including a new catalytic cracking unit at the 110,000 b/d Geelong refinery scheduled for completion in the second half o 1992, and a catalytic reformer at the 75,000 b/d Clyde refinery, due for completion later this year.
Charlton said about $86 million Australian ($109 million U.S.) will be spent to reduce emissions at both refineries.
Oil marketing and distribution facilities in Australia will be revamped at a cost of a little less than $800 million Australian ($1.01 billion U.S.).
