ENSERCH OUTLINES DEEPWATER GULF PROGRAM

Enserch Exploration Partners Ltd. has disclosed 1991 development plans in two deepwater plays in the Gulf of Mexico. Enserch plans to install three multiwell, subsea templates in about 1,500 ft of water on Mississippi Canyon Block 441 off Louisiana. Gas production from each template is be transported by pipeline to a shallow water production platform in 380 ft of water on Ewing Bank Block 482.

Enserch's goal is to start production by late 1992 or early 1993.

During 1990, Enserch drilled three Block 441 wells in water deeper than 1,400 ft, along with one well from Mississippi Canyon Block 442 into Block 441.

Enserch plans more drilling in the area during second half 1991.

With 37.5% working interest, Enserch is operator of Block 441, where reserves are estimated at as much as 300 bcf of gas.

GARDEN BANKS BLOCK 388

In Garden Banks Block 388 Enserch expects to team with operator Exxon U.S.A. to drill at least two more wells during 1991 in water depths exceeding 2,200 ft. The first will be spudded early in February on the north side of a salt dome in the area.

Counting the Block 388 oil discovery well, Enserch has participated in four wells in the area. The two most promising prospects are on hold, awaiting further drilling and evaluation, Enserch said.

The Block 388 discovery well, drilled in first quarter 1989, cut 250 ft of net oil pay in sandstone confirmed productive by wells logs, cores, and wireline.

A well drilled last year to 11,205 ft on Block 388 found oil pay in four zones, including an interval that correlated to the main pay zone in the Block 388 discovery.

A third well drilled directionally into Garden Banks Block 344 from a site 1 1/2 miles west of the Block 388 discovery well cut 40 ft of gas/condensate pay above 14,950 ft and two thin, laminated zones with gas/condensate shows below 15,800 ft.

At that point, the well was temporarily abandoned. But Enserch said it is still available for reentry, pending further evaluation.

Enserch and partners drilled a fourth well in the area on Garden Banks Block 387 to 9,925 ft before plugging it. But the Mineral Management Service still said it was capable of production.

Enserch has a 41.8% working interest in the Garden Banks play.

Meanwhile, Enserch also hopes to increase production on Vermilion Block 359 off Louisiana, where it has 36.75% interest, to 100 MMcfd of gas from 70 MMcfd. Expectations of ultimate recovery there are 90-120 bcf, Enserch said.
