CAMBODIA AWARDS ACREAGE
U.K. independent Premier Consolidated Oilfields plc has become the second foreign company to acquire acreage off Cambodia.
Premier Oil Pacific Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of the London company, acquired Block IV covering 4,775 sq miles in the Gulf of Thailand (see map, OGJ, Oct. 14, p. 28).
Enterprise Oil plc, London, last month became the first foreign company in 20 years to acquire Cambodian acreage when it was awarded offshore Blocks I and II.
Premier will operate the venture in partnership with Repsol Exploration of Spain, Australasian Oil Exploration Ltd., and Santos Ltd.
A production sharing contract will be signed formally to confirm the award.
Block IV is in the Cambodian Trough lies directly east of the Pattani offshore gas/condensate region.
