Lasmo International, London, has declared commercial its Kadanwari gas strike in Pakistan.

The declaration to the Pakistani government followed tests of an appraisal well. Work on a detailed development plan is under way, and the company will seek government approval as soon as possible.

Lasmo's 1 Gorwar appraisal flowed as much as 29.3 MMcfd of gas through a 1 in. choke.

Flow rates were restricted by capacity of test equipment.

The second successful well by Lasmo on the Tajjal permit, Gorwar is 5 1/2 miles southwest of the 1 Kadanwari, which flowed as much as 28.6 MMcfd from the same reservoir in September 1989.

Lasmo said the nearness of a natural gas transmission line, about 40 miles northwest, will facilitate early development.

Lasmo owns a 35% interest in the Tajjal block in partnership with Kufpec (Pakistan) Ltd. and Idemitsu Pakistan Oil Exploration Co. Ltd. 30% each and Oil & Gas Development Corp. 5%. State owned OGDC may choose to increase its interest to 50% in the development and production stages of the project.

Lasmo said there are several "excellent" undrilled prospects on the block.
