TULLOW COMBINE ACQUIRES THREE BLOCKS IN PAKISTAN
Irish independent Tullow Oil plc has acquired three exploration blocks in Pakistan under an agreement with the Pakistani Ministry of Petroleum and National Resources.
The blocks cover 7,485 sq km and bring Tullow's interest in Pakistan to six blocks covering 24,000 sq km.
Tullow holds a 60% interest and will operate the new blocks in partnership with Sabre Petroleum Ltd. 30% and Oil & Gas Development Corp. of Pakistan 10%.
In the first phase, Tullow is committed to conduct field geological studies, shoot seismic surveys, and drill one well within 3 years.
Block A covers 3,825 sq km and lies between Sari, Sing, Hundi, and Khothar gas fields and oil producing acreage in the Badin block operated by Union Texas Petroleum Corp.
Block B, of 3,589 sq km, lies along the Indian border.
Tullow said its 71 sq km Block C near Sui and Kandhkot gas fields was an inadvertent omission from previous license awards.
