IROQUOIS LINE RECEIVING GAS
Shipments of western Canadian gas to markets in the U.S. Northeast via a combined Canadian-U.S. pipeline system began Dec. 1.
TransCanada PipeLines Ltd. delivered gas to the Iroquois Gas Transmission System for customers in New York State, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.
The $583 million Iroquois system had a start-up volume of about 210 MMcfd. Volumes are expected to increase to 575 MMcfd within 1 year.
TransCanada has a 29% interest in the 13 member Iroquois group.
Alberta producers expect to earn more than $420 million/year in revenues from sales via the new system. Most producers, including the 750 member TransCanada supply pool, will participate in sales.
