Consideration included cash and interests in Gulf of Mexico blocks including Ewing Bank 990/946 and Green Canyon blocks 58, 60, 152, and 153.

Gas sales, now averaging 150 MMcfd, began in April 1995 from Sierra Chata, discovered in 1993. Block ownership includes Monument Exploracion Ltd. 20%, Sociedad Internacional Petrolera SA and Petrolera Santa Fe each 15%, Gassur SA 10%, Santa Fe Energy Co. of Argentina 5%, and Cia. General de Combustibles SA 3.5%.

Brunei

Elf Petroleum Asia BV drillstem tested the fifth well in Maharaja Lela gas/condensate field on PMA Block B off Brunei.

The first of three planned drillstem tests at the ML3 well flowed gas at the rate of 29.1 MMcfd on a 3/4 in. choke with 44 b/d of condensate with 2,314 psi FTP from J1 sands at 3,713.75-3,720.75 m and 3,723-75-3,753.75 m.

Interests are Elf 37.5%, Fletcher Challenge Petroleum Borneo 35%, and Jasra International Petroleum Snd. Bhd. and other Bruneian interests 27.5%.

Elf's second discovery on the block, 1 Jamalulalam, flowed 6,000 b/d of oil, 1,730 b/d of condensate, and 63.5 MMcfd of gas from six zones (OGJ, Apr. 22, 1991, p. 48).

Grenada

RSM Production Corp., Denver, was preparing to explore a 4.75 million acre tract in Grenada territorial waters under an agreement with the government of Grenada, Carriacou, and Petit Martinique.

An International Petroleum Corp. group completed the Bunga Kekwa A2 well on Block PM3 in the Malaysia/ Viet Nam commercial ar- rangement area.

The third of five appraisal wells, it penetrated the main reservoirs at a 33° angle and flowed 1,546 b/d of 38° gravity oil and 1.02 MMcfd of gas from two zones at 6,475-6,830 ft. The other two appraisal wells are to be drilled this year. Phase 1 production is to start around July 1, 1997. Phase 2 production consisting of 50,000 b/d of oil and 250 MMcfd of sales gas from Bunga Kekwa, Bunga Raya, Bunga Orkid, and Bunga Pakma fields, is to start by yearend 1999.

The Mora platform has produced 225,000 bbl in its first 19 months of operation from an undisclosed zone.

Mora, the first local independent to venture offshore, hopes to increase production to more than 2,500 b/d of oil by yearend 1998 by sidetracking an existing well and drilling two additional horizontal wells, says Dr. Krishna Persad.
