ELF LETS BIG CONGO DEVELOPMENT CONTRACTS
Elf Congo has let a 1.53 billion franc ($260 million) contract to a combine of Bouygues Offshore and ETPM for two platforms to develop N'Kossa oil field off Congo. The contract covers design, construction, and installation of two drilling platforms to be installed in 170 m of water. Each will have a 10,000 metric ton jacket, including 4,000 tons of piles and conductors, and a 2,000 ton deck. It also covers equipment procurement and laying associated pipelines. Delivery is set for July 1995.
In addition, Bouygues and affiliate Bouygues Offshore will design and build a 300 million franc ($51 million) barge to serve as N'Kossa's floating production vessel (FPS). The barge will be 220 m long, 45 m wide, and 15.5 m high and house 30,000 tons of equipment and 160 workers. The 100,000 ton displacement barge will be anchored off Congo in 180 m of water and will be the first single hull, post-tensioned concrete FPS. Delivery is set for Mar. 30, 1995.
