FACILITIES ENGINEERING STUDY GROUP LAUNCHED
The Gulf Coast section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers has started a Facilities Engineering Study Group to cover onshore and offshore production technology from the wellhead to the point of sale.
The study group will meet on the first Tuesday of each month at the Westlake Club in west Houston, according to Galen M. Dino, study group chairman and project engineer with Flour Daniel Inc. in Sugar Land, Tex. The luncheon meetings will last from 11:30 a.m. to about 1:00 p.m.
The topics will cover the latest technology in facilities engineering, including production systems, multiphase flow and transmission, equipment design and installation, pump and compressor stations, offshore platforms, enhanced oil recovery systems, and gas plants. The group will also cover subsea manifolds, but not subsea wellheads. Case histories will include both domestic and international projects.
The first meeting on Feb. 9 covered the API's new RP 14J Guidelines for Design and Hazard Analysis of Offshore Production Facilities. Another meeting on April 13 discussed multiphase separation and single phase pumps for the DeepStar project by Texaco Inc.
